STUART HOUSE
“Bring Your Heart to Our House”
The invitation read: “Bring your heart to our house.” More than 1,500 guests took that message to heart by attending the seventhannual John Varvatos Stuart House Benefit on Sunday, March 8 in West Hollywood.
Stuart House is a model facility/program of the internationally known Rape Treatment Center at SMUCLA. It brings together police, prosecutors and child-protection personnel in a childfriendly environment to improve treatment of child sexual abuse victims. Stuart House also provides expert medical/forensic examinations and comprehensive therapy, advocacy and other support services to help children heal from the traumatic effects of sexual abuse.
Sponsored by designer John Varvatos, with partner Converse, the event was hosted by actors Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon. “We are so honored to be here today to support the work of Stuart House and the Rape Treatment Center,” Sedgwick told guests.
The event featured an afternoon of music, fashion and fun for the entire family with a special concert by rock-and-roll legends ZZ Top and silent and live auctions. $350,000 was raised to benefit Stuart House.
“Today’s event is proof that our message is out – it was bigger, better and louder,” said Varvatos. “People come out to support a worthy cause, no matter how difficult times are.”
