THE FACES OF UCLA HOSPITAL SYSTEM

The Seventh Annual Mattel Party on the Pier! took place on Saturday, September 30, 2006, at Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier. The sold-out event, which is the premier fund raiser for Mattel Children's Hospital at UCLA, generated nearly $500,000 to underwrite both inpatient and outpatient services, as well as to fund basic science and clinical research.

Every year Mattel Children's Hospital at UCLA Child Life staff and UCLA Medical Center administrative staff arrange a Halloween Trick or Treat event. The children who are able attend a magic show and then travel in wagons and wheel chairs down the administrative hallways where staff in Halloween costumes hand out candy and lots of smiles. Child Life also works with the children to create Halloween art that is used to decorate the hospital halls. Child Life specialists are dedicated to caring for the whole child by addressing the social, emotional and developmental needs of hospitalized children.
